The deadline set by US President Donald Trump for a naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz has passed, AFP reports.

Trump announced the move after weekend peace talks with Tehran ended without an agreement. The US military announced on Sunday it would begin blockading all Iranian Gulf ports on Monday at 1400 GMT (7pm PKT), but would allow ships not travelling to or from Iran passage through the waterway.
