Oman has said that it welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire between the US and Iran after the two countries agreed to a two-week halt in fighting, AFP reports.

Oman’s foreign ministry said in a statement that it emphasised “the importance of intensifying efforts at this juncture to identify solutions capable of resolving the crisis at its roots and achieving a permanent cessation of the state of war,” as it welcomed the ceasefire.
