US crude oil futures rise over $1 as Trump sharpens rhetoric on Iran

US crude futures have risen more than $1 as US President Donald Trump heightened his rhetoric against Iran, threatening stronger action if the country fails to reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained $1.12, or 1.1 per cent, to trade at $113.52 per barrel by 2245 GMT.
