TOBA TEK SINGH: The Tandlianwala City police claimed to have arrested eight alleged kidnappers and recovered a minor girl from their custody during a raid in Chak 419 RB on Saturday.
During a press conference, police spokesperson claimed that accused Nasir, Allah Ditta, Dost Ali, Saif, Ali Muhammad, Ghulam Qadir, Shah Bantam and Ghulam Ali had stormed into the house of complainant Altaf Hussain in Chak 225 RB early on Feb 2 and opened indiscriminate fire over an old enmity. He said the accused abducted the complainant’s niece, Sanobar Bibi (14), after critically injuring her mother Zeba Bibi and her maternal uncle Ibrar Ahmad.
He said the police conducted a raid and arrested the accused and recovered the minor girl from their custody.
ROOF COLLAPSE: Two labourers were critically injured after an under construction roof of a house caved in on Saturday in the Kaleem Shaheedi Colony on the Narwala Road in Faisalabad.
Rescue 1122 recovered both labourers, identified as Muhammad Asif (40) and Bashir Ahmad (50), from the debris and shifted them to the Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital.
BODIES FOUND: Unidentified accused persons killed two people in separate incidents from two different areas in the Gojra Saddar police precinct.
Police recovered the body of one Ijaz Ahmad (35) from the fields outside Chak 350 JB Lahorianwala and said that he had been brutally murdered with a sharp-edged weapon. The Saddar police shifted his body to the Gojra THQ hospital for autopsy. Police said that he had gone missing from his home a day earlier.
In the other incident, after receiving information, the Saddar police recovered a body from a field near Chak 427 JB. The police shifted the body to the Gojra THQ hospital for autopsy.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Liaquat Ali, a resident of Chak 448 JB Rajanwala, Jhang, who had gone missing from his home three days ago.
The Saddar police handed over the bodies to the heirs after conducting post-mortem and have started investigations.
RAPE: A youth, with the help of his companions, allegedly raped a girl in Gojra Chak 305 JB on Saturday.
The complainant in her FIR registered by the Gojra Saddar police claimed that her daughter was present at the house when the accused came with five other accomplices. She claimed that with their help, he forcibly raped her daughter.
Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused and his accomplices.
WHEAT CAMPAIGN: A meeting was held in Faisalabad on Saturday regarding the wheat procurement campaign and the supply of diesel required for harvesting the crop due to the increase in diesel prices.
The meeting, chaired by Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, recommended a rate of Rs9,000 to Rs9,500 for harvesting one acre of wheat from a combine harvester and a rate of Rs9,500 to Rs10,000 per acre for a thrasher. A press release said that the proposed rates were being sent to the provincial government for approval.
The commissioner said that farmers would not be left alone in the current difficult situation. Despite the increase in prices of petroleum products, the administration was on board to provide facilities to wheat farmers. He said that a record wheat crop and a production of 40 maunds were expected this year. He added that arrangements for storage at wheat procurement centers had been completed.
“We are with the farmers in the procurement campaign and the rights of farmers and service providers will be protected and no one will be allowed to exploit them,” he added.
In the meeting, farmer representatives agreed with the rates and also presented some suggestions.
Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir was present in the meeting, while DCs of other districts participated through video-link.
