The Israeli military has issued an evacuation warning for the Masnaa border crossing between Lebanon and Syria, Al Jazeera reports, citing a statement by its Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee.

In a post on social media, Adraee warns that the army intends to carry out air strikes on the crossing, alleging it is being used by Hezbollah for military purposes and weapons transfers.

Israel has provided no evidence to support this claim, while the crossing has also been used by thousands of displaced Lebanese civilians fleeing the war into Syria.

He has urged people in the area, including those travelling on the M30 highway, to evacuate immediately, saying remaining there would put them at risk.

Under international humanitarian law, attacks on civilian infrastructure can constitute a war crime.
