“Any attack on the nuclear power plant in Bushehr would be in clear violation of international law, international humanitarian law,” says Reza Najafi, Iran’s ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The Bushehr plant was hit late on Friday for the third time in 10 days, according to the IAEA, which reported no radiation leak or damage to the reactor.

“Even during the war, it is prohibited to attack the facilities for use of the civilians, and such an attack would be a very big crime, a crime against humanity, a war crime,” the envoy told AFP.

First connected to the grid in 2011, the Bushehr plant in southwestern Iran has the country’s only operational nuclear power reactor, according to the IAEA.
