The head of UAE’s national oil company ADNOC said Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz represent “global economic extortion”, AFP reports.

As the impacts from the Strait’s effective closure move west, and food and fuel prices rise across Europe, “the world must act together to protect the free flow of energy”, Sultan al-Jaber was quoted as saying.
