PESHAWAR, June 25: Buddhist tourists from abroad are fascinated by the Gandhara civilisation which originated in the region now comprising the Frontier province and influenced a vast region. This was stated by archaeologist Prof Fidaullah Sehrai during a lecture organised for Japanese tourists here.

Prof Sehrai said a Japanese archaeological mission of the Kyto University had explored different sites in districts of Mardan, Swabi and Buner.

In collaboration with the NWFP department of archaeology, he said, the team had undertaken excavations at Mekha Sanda on the Karamar mountain, Chanakar Dheri near Shehbaz Garhi, Tareli, Kashmir Samasta in Mardan and Rani Gat in Buner.—Bureau Report
