ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of World Theatre Day, the thought-provoking play Khali Stage, presented in collaboration with Dolphin Communication and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, captivated the audience.

A statement issued here on Friday stated the hall echoed with applause for a long time after the performance, as attendees paid tribute to the creative efforts of Asma Ismail Butt. Organisers claimed that such meaningful and creative productions not only breathed new life into theatre but also played a vital role in highlighting social values and intellectual awareness.

The play was written by Muhammad Waqar Azeem, while direction and presentation were led by Asma Ismail Butt. The drama effectively portrayed the spirit of theatre, its history, and its decline and revival.

The cast included Lareb Rathore, Imran Rashdi, Kaleem Khan, Masooma Shah, Noor Shararti, Waqas, and Samran Ali, all of whom delivered powerful performances and received appreciation from the audience. The story revolved around a young girl deeply connected to the theatre.

On an empty stage, she begins to see characters from the past come alive; however, as soon as a modern director enters, all the characters disappear.

The dialogue between the girl and the director reflected the lack of creative spirit in modern theatre.

According to the CEO of Dolphin Communication, Asma Ismail Butt, “Khali Stage” is an effort to highlight the creative and intellectual dimensions of theatre. At the end, the audience praised the play and stated that such productions played an important role in promoting intellectual awareness in society.
