Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the latest developments in the Middle East, according to Beijing’s foreign ministry spokesperson.

Wang “called on the international community to actively promote dialogue among the parties involved in the conflict, stressing that as long as there is dialogue, there is hope for peace,” the statement said.

He added that “China supports Egypt in continuing to play a mediating role in promoting the resumption of peace talks and the cessation of the war, and is willing to continue to make constructive efforts for this purpose.”
