Chinese FM Wang Yi has held a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, according to Beijing’s foreign ministry spokesperson.

“China supports countries in the Middle East in remaining calm, and responding rationally to the current situation from a long-term perspective based on fundamental interests,” the statement said.

It expressed China’s support for Turkiye in “playing a constructive role in promoting the resumption of negotiations”.
