FIA arrests human trafficker linked to int’l network

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested an accused involved with an international human trafficking network.

According to an FIA spokesperson, a report was received from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Oman chapter which claimed that Muhammad Bilal, a resident of Chichawatni, was involved in illegally transporting several Pakistani citizens to Oman via Iran.

A team of Faisalabad FIA, led by SHO Ajmal Hussain, raided Karwan-e-Saeed Travel and Tours located in Chichawatni and arrested accused Muhammad Bilal, who was running the travel agency.

The spokesperson claimed that he was involved in smuggling and fraud by promising people jobs abroad in collaboration with international human traffickers.

The team claimed to have recovered an iPhone, which contained data of passports, visas and information of WhatsApp groups related to human trafficking, three cash receipt books, seven cheque books and three laptops containing evidence related to human trafficking during the raid.

The FIA said that a case had been registered against the accused, while the role of his accomplice, Muhammad Akbar, who was in Oman, would be determined during the investigation.

MURDER: A man allegedly murdered his wife over a domestic dispute in Chak 350 GB of Toba Tek Singh on Tuesday night.

Police spokesperson Attaullah informed reporters that deceased Asma Perveen (30) and her accused husband Ghulam Abbas Gujjar quarrelled over some issue on Tuesday evening. He said that after the issue was resolved through the mediation of their elders, they went to sleep in the bedroom.

He claimed that when they did not rise in the morning, family members found Asma’s body on the bed and accused Abbas was missing. He said that there were marks of injuries on her head and other body parts. Her body had been shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy and the Rajana Police were conducting raids to arrest her accused husband.

SUICIDE: A man allegedly committed suicide under a train near the Sitara Colony railway level crossing on Risalaywala Road at Faisalabad on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the identity of the 35-year-old deceased could not be ascertained so far. They said the deceased stood on the tracks and even after repeatedly sounding horns by the train driver, he did not move. As a result, the train hit him and he died instantly.

The Samanabad Police shifted his body to the hospital.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider was critically injured after a train hit his bike in Toba Tek Singh near Adda Chak 284 JB on an unmanned railway level crossing on the Gojra-Toba Road. He was identified as Muhammad Nadeem (53) and was shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital.

ACCIDENT: A motorcycle rider died and his mother riding pillion was critically injured after a speeding trailer rear-ended their bike near the Lundu Adda Stop on Rajana Road in Kamalia on Wednesday.

According to Rescue 1122, biker Muhammad Awais (17) died instantly while his mother Hafeezan Bibi (50) was shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

In another incident, a speeding car hit a motorcycle resulting in the bike colliding with another motorcycle near Adda Awagat on the Jaranwala Road in Faisalabad.

Biker Abdul Rehman (60) died on the spot while Arsalan Ali (27) and Muhammad Suleman (19) received multiple injuries and were shifted to the Jaranwala THQ Hospital.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man was electrocuted in Chak Jhumra tehsil’s Chak 106 JB on Khichian-Barnala Road on Wednesday.

Rescuers said that deceased Mahboob Hussain (30) was taking away an iron rod on to the roof of his house when it suddenly touched the electricity wires passing over the roof. As a result, he received a heavy electric shock and died instantly.
