Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announces it has successfully thwarted a “terrorist plot”, following the apprehension of a six-member network, Al Jazeera reports.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Brigadier General Nasser Bousleeb, has confirmed that the network consisted of five citizens and one individual whose citizenship has been revoked, according to a report by the state-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
In addition to the local arrests, Bousleeb said that authorities have identified and tracked 14 fugitive defendants currently outside the country. This group includes five Kuwaiti citizens, five individuals with revoked citizenships, two Iranian nationals, and two Lebanese nationals.
Investigations have proved a direct connection between the suspects and Hezbollah.
The network has been accused of planning high-level assassinations, as well as recruiting individuals to carry out these tasks, according to the KUNA report.
