Iran could open a new front in the Bab al-Mandab Strait if attacks are carried out on Iranian territory or its islands, Reuters reports citing Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, which has cited an unnamed Iranian military source.

The Bab al-Mandab Strait is a waterway between Yemen, on the Arabian Peninsula, and Eritrea and Djibouti in East Africa

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have previously launched attacks in the region where the strategic waterway is located.
