German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says Berlin is making every effort to persuade the United States and Israel to find an end to the war with Iran, Reuters reports.

Answering questions in parliament, he has said Germany would be ready to join international efforts to stabilise the region after hostilities end, but added that any operation would require a mandate from the United Nations.
