Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has said that Abbas Kiarostami, a renowned Iranian director who won the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, was also struck in the bombardment of Iran.

“Even his HOME was not spared from the bombs of the American-Israeli aggressors.

“Was Kiarostami’s home part of the alleged “imminent threat” to the United States?!” Baghaei posted on X.

“The truth is that this American-Israeli war of whims is not merely against a state — it is against a deep-rooted culture, civilisation, and identity.”
