LAHORE: Chinese Consul General (CG) Sun Yan on Tuesday visited the home department to discuss the security of Chinese nationals working in Punjab.

The consul general held a meeting with Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi where both sides discussed the overall law and order situation in Punjab, with a particular focus on security arrangements for Chinese nationals working in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Sun Yan said he was pleased to be in Lahore, describing it as a city of great historical significance.

He highlighted that China and Pakistan enjoy traditional brotherly relations and noted that many projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are underway in Punjab.

He also appreciated the Punjab home department’s role in maintaining law and order, adding that a friendly environment exists for Chinese nationals in the province.

Welcoming the consul general, Secretary Dr Qazi reaffirmed that the protection of all Chinese citizens in Punjab remains the government’s top priority.

He expressed the hope that Sun Yan’s tenure in Lahore would further strengthen the longstanding ties between Pakistan and China.

Dr Qazi said foolproof security arrangements had been ensured across all industrial zones in Punjab.

He said that government offices remain accessible to Chinese nationals and officials and efforts are underway to further enhance the capacity of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) responsible for their security.

He further noted that the government is strictly implementing federal guidelines to ensure the safe movement of Chinese citizens. The home secretary presented commemorative gifts to the consul general.
