NEW YORK, June 24: The Bush administration was given a three-month deadline on Friday to rule on a visa application of a prominent Muslim intellectual, Tariq Ramadan, by a federal judge in New York.

Ruling in a lawsuit, judge Paul Crotty noted: “The government has failed to adjudicate Ramadan’s pending B-visa application within a reasonable period of time.”

The lawsuit was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union.
