Iran says its foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, has discussed the impact of the US–Israeli war with Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Muhammad bin Hassan, reaffirming Tehran’s right to defend its “sovereignty and territorial integrity” and stressing the need to prevent regional territories from being used for attacks, Al Jazeera reports.
In a post on X, Tehran says the discussion also addressed tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and broader diplomatic efforts.
Malaysia’s top diplomat reiterated Kuala Lumpur’s opposition to what it described as “US-Israeli aggression” and called for “tension reduction” and “regional stability”, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.
He also offered condolences to Iran for “civilian victims of the attacks”.
