Iran’s judiciary says it has taken action against a “small number of media outlets, media figures, journalists”, celebrities and other public speakers since the war broke out, Al Jazeera reports.

Without providing details on the alleged offences, the judiciary has told state media it filed legal cases, seized property, performed arrests, banned activities, and blocked some news sites and one news agency, as well as hosted “educational” meetings.

The internet blackout imposed by the Iranian government has been ongoing for 23 days straight, cutting civilians off from independent news and information, according to online monitoring group NetBlocks.
