ISLAMABAD, June 23: Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) on Friday clarified that the posting of 16 DMG officers in quake-affected areas was subject to successful completion of their training at the Civil Services Academy.
In response to a story published in Dawn on June 23 regarding the posting of DMG officers in earthquake affected areas, Erra further stated that the officers had not been placed under the administrative control of the authority, as reported in the news item, rather their services had been placed at the disposal of the NWFP government and Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Division for further posting as assistant coordination officers and assistant commissioners.
The postings, it said, were done to meet the mandated task of enhancing the capacity of affected district governments, which were suffering from lack of capacity and dearth of qualified civil servants.
