Farmers decry water shortage

JACOBABAD, June 22: Farmers took out a procession against shortage of water in Moosa Allahabad and Distery canals in Thul on Thursday.

The procession started from Baloch Colony and after marching on different roads of the town reached at the Rehbar Chowk where they staged a sit-in and observed a token hunger strike for one hour.

The protesters were carrying banners, placards and raised slogans against irrigation officials.

Sindh Farmers Board president Luqman Ali Buriro, Secretary-general Mohammad Moosa Tunio, district general secretary Mohammad Ramzan Buriro, Mohammad Sharif Khoso and others spoke on the occasion and said that they tried to meet with the executive engineer and the SDO irrigation but they were not available in their offices.—BoC
