GUJRANWALA, June 22: Residents and the business community of Model Town have protested against the frequent suspension of telephone service for the last about 10 days.

Over 4,000 telephones of 85 series again went out of order on Wednesday owing to some technical fault, but the PTCL staff failed to remove it.

Reports said that the fault occurred at the telephone exchange affected almost all business centers, including offices of the chamber of commerce and industry and print and electronic media.

Subscribers complaining frequent occurring of the fault called upon PTCL high-ups to get it removed permanently.

The Gujranwala telecom region (GTR) general manager was not available in his office to offer his comments. While his staff confirmed that they did receive complaints regarding the fault.

Carpet traders in Trust Plaza complained that they had to face financial losses owing to frequent suspension of the telephone service.
