Pindi, Islamabad receive light rain

RAWALPINDI: The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad received light rain on Tuesday, bringing temperature down by two degrees celsius.

Rain started on Monday night and continued till Tuesday. The Met Office has predicted that temperatures will come down further by four degrees celsius in the coming days.

The Met Office recorded 2mm of rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad city while Murree received 7mm of rain. It has also forecast more rain in the next 24 hours.

According to a Met Office official, a westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country, which is likely to persist in the upper parts till March 12.

“Cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Potohar region and Kashmir. Isolated heavy fall and hailstorm is likely during the period. Meanwhile, dry weather is likely to prevail in other parts of the country,” the official said.

The weather advisory also stated that due to recent situation in Iran, winds may carry pollutants that would deteriorate air quality in the western parts of the country.
