QUETTA: Leaders of an all-parties group from Karezat Tehsil in Pishin urged the Balochistan government and a parliamentary committee on Thursday to fulfil what they said was a promise to restore the notification establishing Karezat district.

Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, the leaders warned that if the matter continues to be delayed, they will stage a protest rally on March 26 in Khanozai.

The leaders, including Jameel Ahmed, former provincial minister Abdul Wahid Siddiqi, Haji Nizam Uddin Kakar and Atiq Khan Kakar, said the rally would include all political parties, public committees and youth groups.

They said a strict future course of action would be announced over what they described as the government’s failure to honour its commitments.

They said residents of the area have struggled for many years for the creation of Karezat district and called the cancellation of its notification after issuance highly condemnable.

The group demanded that a district be formed comprising the tehsils of Bostan, Khanozai, Nana Sahib, Barshore and Karezat.
