LAHORE, June 20: Terms and conditions have been set for the committee constituted to devise a strategy for the operation and running of a shuttle train from Shahdara to Raiwand railway station.
The committee headed by the DCO will comprise all town nazims concerned, TEPA chief engineer, EDO(IT) of the CDGL, District Road Transport Authority’s secretary, and district officers of environment and planning.
The town nazims will conduct survey of the existing stations and identify the need for new ones according to the number of passengers.
TEPA chief engineer will inspect and survey the existing infrastructure of the stations for facilities like taxi and bus stands and waiting sheds, etc. He will also carry out a fresh survey of the passenger volume.
The EDO(IT) will develop a comprehensive map of the route from Shahdara to Raiwand railway station and, with the input from the TEPA and DRTA, identify the points with heavy and low volume of passengers, besides a new route in the map.
The DRTA secretary will identify new bus routes to facilitate the passengers in reaching their respective destinations from the existing stations. He will also hold meetings with taxi drivers’ union to arrange transport for the prospective passengers.
The environment district officer will act as secretary to the committee, while Planning officer will prepare and finalize a presentation after getting input from all concerned members.
