BAHAWALPUR, June 20: The main accused of the acid attack on a widow of Uch Sharif has not so far been arrested. A demand for his arrest was voiced by victim Rabia Sultana’s son at an open kutchery of range DIG Ghulam Haider Marth held at Circuit House here on Tuesday.
DPO Arif Nawaz, who was present on the occasion, said the co-accused and victim’s father-in-law was arrested while the police were tracking the fleeing accused, Riaz, Rabia’s brother-in-law.
The DIG assured the complainant that justice would be provided to the victim. He also announced Rs10,000 for the victim saying that her special medical treatment would be ensured at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital, where she was in serious condition.
A number of complaints regarding their grievances were brought to the notice of the DIG who issued orders to redress the same.
The DIG said under the chief minister directives, registration centres were established at offices of police officials to facilitate complainants.
KILLED: One Nazar was killed while his brother-in-law Rafique sustained serious injuries when their motorcycle on which they were riding hit against a tree near Yazman on Tuesday.
