‘Inspection of electrical installations in private buildings banned since 2003’

KARACHI: The Gul Plaza Judicial Commission was on Tuesday informed that the government had imposed a ban on inspection of electrical installations of all private buildings since 2003.

The single-member commission headed by Justice Agha Faisal of the Sindh High Court had sought an explanation as to why the electric inspector did not inspect the electrical installations of Gul Plaza.

Electric Inspector Pervez Turk appeared before the judicial commission and placed on record a notification issued by the Sindh government in August 2003 about a ban on annual / periodical inspection of electrical installation of industrial, commercial and high-rise buildings.

However, the electric inspector may inspect “public owned federal, provincial and district governments, autonomous bodies and the licensees (KESC / HESCO) installations”, it added.
