Balochistan’s development PPP’s top priority, says Bilawal

QUETTA: PPP Chair­man Bilawal Bhutto-Zar­d­ari on Tuesday said susta­inable development and pu­­blic prosperity in Balo­chistan remained among the party’s top priorities, while also addressing other key challenges facing the province.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Bal­ochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in Islamabad.

Party officials said the two leaders discussed the overall political situation in the province, development strategy and progress on ongoing projects.

Chief Minister Bugti briefed Mr Bhutto-Zardari on development schemes, public welfare initiatives and the law and order situation. He also shared up­­d­a­­tes on measures to imp­­r­ove infrastructure, education, healthcare, communicati­­on networks and the development of the coastal belt.

The chief minister said the provincial governme­nt was taking priority-based measures to ensure that development benefits rea­ched remote and underdeveloped areas. He added that transparency and ef­­f­ective monitoring mechanisms were being stren­g­thened to ensure proper utilisation of resources.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari ap­­pr­e­­ciated the pace of develo­pment work in the provin­ce and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting Balochistan at the federal level to help resolve its issues and ensure timely completion of projects.

Both leaders agreed to intensify joint efforts for socio-economic uplift, job creation for youth and resolution of public concerns in the province.
