CTD arrests ‘militant’
SAHIWAL: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), on a tip-off, arrested a suspected militant affiliated with the banned outfit, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al-Kharij faction, during a raid on a premises in Al-Hasan Garden, Noor Shah Road on Monday night.
According to the CTD officials, a team led by an officer, Waseem Akhtar, was on patrol when it received a tip-off about the suspected militant.
Acting on the information, the team raided the residential colony and apprehended the suspect, later identified as Muhammad Daraz, a resident of Mantoshakai, Wana, South Waziristan. The recovered nine banned books, pamphlets, stickers, along with hate material, from the suspect .
Following the arrest, CTD registered a case against the suspect under Sections 11 F-2, 11 W-2, and 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1996, on the complaint of Waseem Akhter.
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted six-day physical remand of the suspect, handing him over to the CTD. The court directed that the suspect be presented again on March 9.
