President Donald Trump says he has ordered the United States Development Finance Corporation to provide insurance and guarantees for the financial security of all maritime trade, including oil tankers, traveling through the Gulf region, reports Reuters.

He added that if necessary, the US navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

He made the comments in a Truth Social post.
