RAWALPINDI, Oct 17: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the recording of statements of the accused in Redco Textile Mills corruption reference till October 22.
The judge, accountability court No 2, Mansur Ali Khan, was to record the statements of the former senator Saifur Rehman and his brother Mujibur Rehman on Wednesday.
The hearing was adjourned on the request of the defence lawyer of Mujibur Rehman who wanted some time for the preparation of the case.
According to the National Accountability Bureau the accused took loan from the United Bank Limited for setting up Redco Textile Mills and refused to pay back the loan.
Ex-MPA CASE: The court also adjourned the hearing of a corruption case against a former PML-N MPA.
The court will record the statement of the accused, Chaudhry Tanvir, under section 265-k of the CrPC on October 27.
Judge Mansur Ali Khan could not record the statement of the accused for acquittal due to absence of the defence lawyer Dr Baber Awan.
The NAB has alleged that the former MPA who also remained the vice-president of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board misappropriated official funds during his tenure.—APP
