Women teachers in Dir resign over unpaid salary
LOWER DIR: Several women teachers working in schools run by the Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) in Lower Dir have resigned after remaining unpaid for the last 42 months.
Talking to reporters in Timergara on Monday, the affected teachers said that the prolonged suspension of salaries had caused severe financial hardship to them, particularly during Ramazan, as many of them were unable to purchase essential food items while shopkeepers had also refused to extend further credit to them.
They termed the non-payment of salaries unjust and demanded immediate release of their pending dues, warning that they would move court if the issue was not resolved without delay.
Meanwhile, lawyers of the district bar association on Monday condemned what they described as Israeli aggression against Iran and targeting of its civilian and military leadership.
Speaking at a meeting here, bar president Mohammad Saleem Advocate and other lawyers termed the attacks a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. They expressed concern over continued strikes and civilian casualties, calling on the international community to take notice of the situation.
