Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a phone call with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to discuss the crisis in the Middle East, Reuters reports, citing Russian news agency Interfax.

During the conversation, the parties “expressed hope for a swift de-escalation of the conflict and a return to political and diplomatic methods,” Interfax reported.
