NA speaker expresses concern over situation in Middle East, expresses grief at Khamenei’s assassination
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has expressed grief and sorrow after the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and members of his family.
According to the National Assembly’s X account, he said that this was “an irreparable loss for the entire family and the friendly people of Iran”. He also expressed deep solidarity with the people of Iran during this time.
“Expressing concern over the prevailing situation in the Middle East, the NA Speaker underscored the serious violation of international law and the erosion of the long-standing convention that heads of state or government must not be targeted,” it said.
“He further warned that the ongoing conflict in the region could drive the world toward greater instability, heightened tensions, and the risk of a broader confrontation. Emphasising the urgency of the moment, he called upon the international community to play an effective and responsible role in promoting peace and ensuring stability in the region,” it added.
