‘Serial rapist’ killed in encounter with CCD
KASUR: An alleged serial rapist in the custody of the Crime Control Department (CCD) was killed in an encounter in the limits of Mustafabad police station early on Saturday morning.
According to details, CCD had claimed to arrest the suspect in a dramatic way a few days back. Police had claimed that the suspect had allegedly kidnapped and abused three minor girls in separate incidents in the last few weeks. According to the CCD, the DNA profiling of the suspect matched with those obtained from the victims.
On Saturday, CCD, on its social media page, confirmed that the suspect identified as T of village Sialawali Khingrianwala was killed during an encounter. However, there was no mention of any of the accomplices of the accused, place and time of the encounter. The CCD further claimed that the suspect had previous record of raping minor girls and it (CCD) had arrested him through hardwork and professional skills. The parents of the victims were happy and satisfied with the culmination of the event, CCD claimed on social media.
Meanwhile, CCD and Rescue 1122 gave conflicting statements regarding the incident. According to Rescue 1122, a caller informed them that a man had received bullet injuries but when a team arrived at the scene, police told Rescue officials that a proclaimed offender was hiding in the fields.
Rescue 1122 said that, later, the proclaimed offender and police exchanged fire. As a result, the PO got injured and died on the spot, while Rescue 1122 shifted the body to a nearby hospital. Police confirmed that none of the cops were injured in the shootout.
