European Council President Antonio Costa has said Iran’s strikes on several countries in the Middle East represent a “dangerous escalation of the military situation in the Middle East”.

“I welcome today’s meeting of the United Nations Security Council. It must work towards restoring peace and stability in the region and ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon,” he wrote in a post on X.
