Slain PPP leaders buried

SIALKOT, June 18: Rana Inamullah and Farooq Shafi Mughal, the Daska-based PPP leaders who were slain on Saturday, were laid to rest at their native graveyard on Sunday.

A large number of people, including the PPP’s central and provincial leadership, also attended the funeral which was held amid tight security.

Daska PPP president Inamullah Khan and Sialkot additional secretary-general Farooq Shafi Mughal were shot dead by some car riders near Malkhaanwala village along the Upper Chenab Canal bridge on Saturday.

The Daska Bar Association condemned the killings and demanded immediate arrest of killers.

On the report of Rana Arshad advocate, the father of slain Inamullah, Sambrial police have registered a double murder case against Muhammad Faqeer, Nawaz, Sarfraz, Rafiq and Shehzad of Chanaan village, Kamoke.

According to the FIR, the nominated accused had a property dispute with slain Rana Inamullah and his family.

Sambrial DSP Mirza Liaquat Ali claimed that a heavy police contingent had raided residences of the nominated accused, but their families fled after locking their houses. The DSP did confirm the property dispute as a motive.
