ISLAMABAD: Robbers shot and injured a woman during a street robbery and looted over two and a half million worth of valuables, police said.

The incident took place when the woman was returning home in a vehicle after shopping. Two motorcycleriders intercepted her when she reached DHA Phase III and held her at gunpoint.

Shortly, the gunmen looted gold ornaments weighing six tolas and a mobile phone from her. The gunmen also fired at her, and as a result, she sustained a bullet injury in her hand.

Later, the robbers escaped from the spot along with the booty.

A case has been registered against the unidentified robbers under section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code in response to a complaint of the victim.

Meanwhile, a suspect was injured while another escaped during an encounter with the police at Khanna, police said.

Over the incident, a case has been registered under sections 324, 353, 411, 186, and 427 of the PPC and sections 13 and 20 of the Arms Ordinance.

According to the police claim, a police team was patrolling in the area of Khanna. The team spotted three people riding on a motorcycle when the team reached Pindorian Graveyard.

On suspicion, the team attempted to intercept them. However, the riders started firing at the police and tried to escape from the scene.

The police further claimed that one of the riders sustained a bullet injury from the firing of his accomplices and fell on the road.

The two other gunmen fled, leaving behind the injured accomplice and the motorcycle at the spot.

The police team overpowered and arrested the injured suspect, and during the search recovered a mobile and a 30 bore pistol from him. Later, the injured person was shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.
