Info minister assails Afghan Taliban for rights abuses against women
The information minister, in his address, also took note of the state of women’s rights in Afghanistan.
“Women’s lives are valued less than [everyone] in the country,” Tarrar said, adding that due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s ban on women’s education, “a generation of women are not being educated”.
The minister also claimed that no laws existed in Afghanistan aimed at preventing violence against women, stressing that the regime was “normalising abuse”.
“They impose duty upon the people to prevent a vice,” he said, adding that by doing so, the regime was encouraging people to “take the law into their own hands”.
