Recount ordered at 39 polling stations in Balochistan’s Hub
ISLAMABAD: Over two years after the 2024 general polls, a three-member bench of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday ordered by a 2-1 majority judgement a re-count of votes at 39 polling stations of PB-21 (Hub, Baluchistan).
“The Returning Officer PB-21 Hub shall re-count the already polled ballot papers of the ….polling stations as soon as possible but not later than 3 working days positively,” the ECP order said.
The ECP secretary has been asked to communicate the order to the returning officer concerned and also to the Balochistan government for strict fool-proof security to be provided to the returning officer and officers on the day of re-counting.
Member of ECP from Sindh Nisar Ahmed Durrani concurred with the judgment authored by retired Justice Ikramullah Khan, member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Babar Hassan Bharwana, member from Punjab dissented with the majority judgement.
