PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday assured the people affected by Mohmand Dam of taking up their issues with the relevant authorities for resolution on a priority basis.

He was speaking to a jirga of Stanadar Qaumi Ittehad led by Asadullah, provincial general secretary of Utmankhel Qaumi Ittehad, which called on him at the Governor’s House here.

The jirga apprised Mr Kundi of the problems being faced by the Stanadar tribe, particularly those related to Mohmand Dam construction, including royalty matters.

The delegation demanded timely payment of dues to the affected people and called for development of all the areas on equal basis.

Members of the jirga lauded the governor for keeping the doors of the Governor’s House open to the public and listening to citizens’ grievances. They lauded his public outreach and efforts aimed at resolving people’s issues.

Mr Kundi said that matters relating to provincial departments and development affairs fell within the jurisdiction of the provincial government; however, he would convey the jirga’s concerns and demands to the relevant quarters.

He also promised pursing the issues pertaining to the federal department for early resolution.

Meanwhile, Governor Kundi assured the business community of full support to address their concerns.

He was talking to former senior vice-president of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and noted businessman Haji Abdul Jalil Jan, who called on him at the Governor’s House.

Matters relating to promotion of industrial and trade activities, investment opportunities, and issues faced by traders were discussed.

Jalil Jan highlighted the challenges, including the tax system, energy crisis and law and order situation affecting businesses.

The governor said that the concerns of the business community would be taken up with the relevant authorities and that a conducive environment would be ensured to promote investment. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rich in natural and human resources and can be made economically strong through collective efforts.”
