Three dead as decade-long Chachar-Jagirani feud reignites

SUKKUR: A long-standing tribal feud reignited in the riverine (katcha) area of Kandhkot on Wednesday, leaving three people dead and one wounded.

The clash, involving the Chachar and Jagirani communities, saw rival groups exchange fire with sophisticated weapons and rocket launchers in Jiand Jagirani village.

The deceased have been identified as Anwar Ali Chachar, Ghulam Shabbir Chachar and Mashqool Jagirani.

The heavy exchange of fire forced local residents to remain besieged in their homes as both sides took up combat positions. Upon receiving reports of the violence, SSP Kashmore Muhammad Murad Ghanghro dispatched a heavy police contingent to the jurisdiction of the Durrani Mahar police station to restore order.

According to police sources, the bodies were shifted to the civil hospital for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to their respective families.

The violence stems from a 10-year-old dispute over cattle theft. To date, this specific feud has claimed more than 20 lives.

While the police have established a presence, villagers report that tension remains high and further bloodshed is feared. As of this report, no formal case (FIR) has been registered.
