SYDNEY, June 16: Cricket Australia (CA) on Friday said 340,000 tickets for England's tour Down Under will go on sale next week but warned most of the coveted seats at the Ashes Test series had already been snapped up.
The organisation will offer tickets to the general public for the first time after a period of exclusive sales to members of the so-called Australian Cricket Family (ACF) expired on Thursday.
ACF members had to supply an Australian residential address before they could buy tickets, in an attempt by officials to prevent members of England's ‘Barmy Army’ swamping Australian grounds for the highly-anticipated series.
The ACF members bought about 350,000 tickets between June 1-15, leaving some 340,000 tickets to Tests, one-dayers and 20/20 matches available to the general public from next week.—AFP
