RAHIM YAR KHAN, June 16: A police official of Sadiqabad who allegedly killed two `outlaws’ in custody three weeks ago is back in saddle much to the surprise of locals and district police. ASP Pir Muhammad Shah, according to the district police, had been transferred to the crime branch, Multan. But Shah reportedly resumed as Sadiqabad ASP a few days ago.
He hit the headline of the local and national press after he killed two citizens Rana Shehzad and Naveed Anjum near Ahmadpur Lama 25 days ago. The issue was raised in the Punjab Assembly by the opposition last week.
Talking to press on Thursday, Shah reportedly claimed that the provincial government, appreciating his efficiency, had asked him to continue as the Sadiqabad ASP. “I have not been transferred anywhere,” he told a questioner.
Shah said he had no regrets of killing Rana and Anjum whom he described as outlaws.
RY Khan acting DPO Mehmoodul Hasan said that ASP Pir Muhammad Shah had been transfered to
Multan and that the DPO office had not received cancellation, if any.
Anjuman Sheherian Sadiqabad and traders’ bodies warned of agitation if Shah was again reposted in the town.
INQUIRY: Senior civil Judge Syed Awais Ashraf Gellani, probing the encounter, has summoned the Ahmedpur Lama SHO with record on June 21.
