Approval must for Ramazan Dastarkhwans

ISLAMABAD: While the district administration has made it mandatory for obtaining approval for setting up public Dastarkhwans in Ramazan, so far 18 applications have been received from across the city.

According to a spokesperson for the district administration, individuals and organisations, wishing to arrange the Dastarkhwans, must submit a formal application along with complete details.

“Applicants are required to provide their identification information as well as the location where the Dastarkhwan will be set up. ICT administration will ensure identification of appropriate locations and facilitate necessary arrangements, including security and other essential services.”

He added that so far 18 applications have been received. “Assistant Commissioners will conduct site inspections after which formal permission letters will be issued,” he said.

Setting up public Dastarkhwans without prior registration and approval from the district administration will not be permitted, he said.

Meanwhile, wholesale dealers have assured the Rawalpindi district administration of selling edibles at the official rates in Ramazan.

A meeting was held with wholesale dealers and retailers under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Hasaan Tariq in which the issue of ensuring adequate supply of food items during Ramazan, controlling prices and other administrative matters were reviewed.

The meeting discussed the availability and prices of sugar, flour, pulses, ghee, vegetables and other basic commodities in the market.

The additional deputy commissioner directed that providing relief to the people is the top priority of the district administration and no one will be allowed to profit or hoard.

He said Price Control Magistrates will inspect the markets regularly and strict action will be taken against violators.

Wholesale dealers and retailers assured the district administration of their cooperation and said they will ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
