CJP visits Fort Abbas Judicial Complex
LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, in his capacity as chairman of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP), on Saturday undertook a field visit to the Judicial Complex at Fort Abbas, district Bahawalnagar, reaffirming the constitutional commitment to equal access to justice across all regions of the country.
Fort Abbas, regarded as the last judicial post of Punjab, is located in a geographically remote and resource-constrained area. Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and other judicial officials also accompanied him, said a statement.
At the Judicial Complex, the CJP conducted a comprehensive review of court operations, infrastructure, and litigant facilitation mechanisms.
He emphasized that constitutional guarantees must not be dependent on geography and that even the most remote judicial stations must reflect institutional dignity, operational efficiency, and responsiveness to the public.
On the occasion, the Bahawalnagar district & sessions judge inaugurated the newly established e-Library and solarisation facility.
The CJP appreciated the Punjab government for executing the solarisation project within the stipulated timeline.
The sessions judge also performed the groundbreaking of the women bar room, marking progress toward fostering an inclusive and professionally supportive environment for women lawyers.
CJP Afridi observed court proceedings, interacted with judges serving at Fort Abbas and adjoining areas, and acknowledged their dedication under challenging conditions.
He encouraged adherence to high standards of integrity and efficiency while assuring institutional support.
He said the courts must evolve into inclusive service institutions that address not only adjudication but also the vulnerabilities of women, children, and marginalised segments of society.
