Balochistan launches Spring Tree Plantation drive
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan formally launched the Spring Tree Plantation drive by planting a sapling, reaffirming the government’s commitment to environmental protection, pollution control and providing citizens with a healthier living environment.
The initiative is part of a broader provincial strategy to expand green spaces and address climate change, with active participation expected from government departments, the public, and youth.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief secretary said protecting forests and the environment is not solely the government’s responsibility and urged citizens to take an active role in the plantation drive. He emphasised that people should not only plant new saplings but also ensure their care until they grow into mature trees.
He directed the relevant departments to ensure the proper maintenance and survival of newly planted saplings.
Secretary Forests Imran Gichki and other officials were also present at the ceremony.
