23 farmers of Pindi district being provided laser land levelers

RAWALPINDI: A balloting ceremony was held in Rawalpindi for the provision of laser land levelers to the farmers of Rawalpindi district on subsidy under the three-year Agricultural Transformation Plan for the Potohar region.

Laser land levelers are being provided to 23 farmers of Rawalpindi district on a subsidy through a balloting.

Similarly, in Rawalpindi Division in three years, 270 laser land levelers will be provided to farmers on a subsidy of Rs700,000.

MPA Raja Shaukat Bhatti was the chief guest while Member Provincial Assembly Ms Riffat Abbasi and Director Agriculture Water Management Rawalpindi Division Ms Farhana Jamil also attended the event.

Under this project, the Irrigation Reforms Department of the Punjab Agriculture Department will install a modern irrigation system connected to solar energy on an area of 1700 acres in three years and 1700 lift irrigation connected to solar energy on 70pc subsidy.

On this occasion, MPA Raja Shaukat Bhatti said that the PunjabChief Minister has taken several steps for the development and prosperity of agriculture. He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab’s Agricultural Transformation Plan is a gift for the farmers of the Potohar region.

“This transformation plan will prove to be a game changer for the development of agriculture in the Potohar region,” he said.

He further said that transparency has been ensured in all the programmes and schemes of the Punjab government.

In the transformation plan of the Chief Minister of Punjab for the Potohar region, a huge amount has been allocated for the construction of water resources, modern irrigation systems and promotion of high-value crops, he said.

He said that the provision of laser land levelers in this region has helped in leveling the lands, which will promote irrigated agriculture in this area.

Punjab Agriculture, water management, Rawalpindi Division Director Ms. Farhana Jamil, highlighted the Agriculture Transformation Plan of the Chief Minister of Punjab.

She said that Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has allocated Rs 7 billion for the Potohar region through the water management wing of the Punjab Agriculture Department.

She further said that the aim of this transformation plan is to implement agricultural development activities in a coordinated manner, enable increased agricultural production with modern agricultural technology and use local resources effectively. “This plan has not only improved the agricultural sector but will also have a positive impact on the local economy and social development,” she said.

Punjab Water management Rawalpindi Deputy Director Raja Hassan Raza Khan congratulated the farmers and said that they should give laser land levelers to others for use so that maximum water can be saved.
