THATTA, June 15: Fifty activists of the Awami Tehrik observed a token hunger strike in front of the press club here on Thursday against demolition of old settlements, proposed construction of Kalabagh dam and other controversial water projects.
Those observed hunger strike are: Ahmed Khushik, Mitha Khan Lashari, Farid Soomro, Sarang Soomro, Qasim Shaikh, Zaheer Soomro and central general secretary of the party, Dada Qadir Ranto.
They said that the government was committing blunders. It had given a green signal to an ethnic group, now a coalition partner of the Pakistan Muslim League, to use all resources and state power against Sindhis and usurp their historical rights, they alleged.
They said, by demolishing the graves of Morario’s brothers, the ethnic group had played with the sentiments of Sindhi people.
PROTEST: The People’s Donkey Cart Association of Thatta took out a procession here on Thursday and observed a token hunger strike to protest against the anti-Sindh projects.
Former MNA Baboo Ghulam Hussain and PPP’s district president Arbab Wazir Ahmed Memon and general secretary Pir Rehmani participated in the protest.
